Art History

Chelsea Rieu-Torrez is a Muslim- American artist. She was one of the organizers in the Denver International Airport protest against the proposed anti- refugee, immigrant, and Muslim policies in 2017, and was a speaker at “Protect our Muslim Neighbors Rally” in Denver’s Civic Park, where she used her platform to raise awareness on Latin-American immigration.

In her scholarly work, she is interested in ways that technological advances, politics, and capitalist ideals have influenced, and impacted art. Inspired and fascinated by Middle Eastern and Asian artworks, she would like to focus her studies in these two main areas. Chelsea also takes pleasure in painting with a variety of mediums, and experiments with various techniques and styles. She was selected as a featured artist in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts’ "The Denver Muslim Women’s Art Collective" in 2017. Chelsea will be applying to a graduate program and hopes to pursue a career in Museology and Art Conservation.
